Louis M. Castro of 85 years was the last survivor of 3 brothers and one sister, Juan, Hermerjildo, and Maria Castro. Parents were Sebastian and Jesusa Castro. He had many loving nephews and nieces. Louis was born in Maxwell, Texas. At the age of 15, the family moved to San Antonio and lived at 1508 Perez Street. He dropped out of school to help the family financially and went to work the fields of cotton and vegetables. As he got older he worked as a construction worker, building the Central Library & the Southwestern Bell (now known as the AT&T) buildings that still stand today along with numerous others. He was always an active, energetic man.
His six children are Frank Castro, Nancy Castro-Jones, Alfred Castro, Joe Castro, Ruben Castro and Martin Daniel Castro followed by 13 grandchildren, 27 great-grandchildren, and 1 great-great grandchild.
He will always be loved and will be in our hearts forever. Our Lord received him with open arms.
Surely God is my salvation; I will trust and not be afraid. The Lord is my strength and my song; he has become my salvation. With joy you will draw water from the wells of salvation.
